Born in Brooklyn in 1950, Rishell started out as a drummer in a surf-rock
band. However, a friend introduced him to the work of country blues masters,
and he was hooked for life. Eventually settling in the Boston area,
Rishell became a virtuoso guitarist and evocative singer while playing with
many of his heroes, including Sonny Terry, Howlin' Wolf, Son House, and
Johnny Shines.

Rishell and Raines tour widely and have released multiple lauded albums,
included 2004's "Goin' Home," recipient of 2 Handy Award nominations
for Acoustic Blues Artist of the year and Acoustic Blues Album of the Year.

As he was gaining fame, Annie Raines across town in Boston succumbed to
the magic sounds of harmonica greats Little WalterJacobs, Sonny Boy
Williamson, and Big Walter Horton. She became a star in the Boston area,
played with Pinetop Perkins and James Cotton, and in the 90s joined forces
with Rishell.
