Raffle tickets for this fine instrument were sold at various events for $10 each. The raffle drawing was done on November 11, 2006 at intermission during the Jimmy Thackery/James Harmon show put on by the SBBS at Warren Hall. Over $4600 in tickets were sold ($3600 net), the proceeds going to our local Blues For Youth program! Thanks to the Gibson Foundation for their generous donation, and thanks for those who particpated in the raffle.

The odds of winning the Ephphone Guitar were at ~1/460 per ticket, still quite favorable. We are happy to announce that Doug Carroll was the lucky winner.

Leo Schumaker Presenting The Guitar To Doug Carrol

The Story Doesn't End Here!
Read On....

In an almost unfathomably gracious gesture which stunned those who witnessed it, Doug turned around and donated the guitar he had just won back to the Blues Society! The guitar itself has a retail value of roughly $1200 and with its current signatures would fetch much much more on an e-bay auction.

The SBBS will now auction the guitar off to the highest bidder at its new show, its Members Appreciation Event featuring John Long on Jan. 27 2007! Proceeds from that action will also go to the local Blues For Youth program. Thank You Doug! Few (if any) others would have been so generous had they won the raffle!
